Well, here we are at another New Year! I'm still trying to grasp that it's 2009. With another new year comes lots of resolutions. And -- yeah...we've got the same one that many of you have...get HEALTHY!
I know, I know...you've heard me say that time and time again, and we've yet to actually make it happen. But -- we are serious this time. Brian and I are both on the same page (finally), and we are bound to get fit. There are no excuses for letting ourselves get out of control with our weight and diet. And -- we are surely not setting a good example for the boys. So, we are all on board. Even Caleb knows that he will have to eat his veggies. It's up to Brian and myself to start setting the example for him. It's time to put down the fork, put down the chocolate (ohhhh how I love me some chocolate), and cut out the stress reliever (aka Smirnoff and Coors Light).
I'm not yet brave enough to post before pictures or post our stats. But -- just know that we have both put on more than the "marriage 15." Add to that the fact that I've had two little boys, and well, it's not a pretty sight.
We have been and are really motivated by The Biggest Loser. The new season starts tonight, and we are really looking forward to watching. Caleb enjoys it, too, and he knows that changes have to be made in order to lead a healthy life. I've already given Brian permission to go all Bob and Jillian on me. He'll probably have to use more of Jillian's tactics to be honest. While I love Bob, and I love that he cares for the individual...sometimes I just need a kick in the arse to get me moving. So, if Brian needs to pull out Jillian, then he can. LOL!
So, how will we get this accomplished you ask? Well, we've got everything we need right here at our home:
- Brian is very well versed in nutrition, and he knows his stuff. So, he can tell me how to eat healthier and how to watch my intake (calories, fat, protein, carbs, and fiber). He knows what my daily intake should be, and he'll put me on the program that is best suited for me. And -- I'll have to start writing everything that I eat down in my journal. I already started this today actually.
- I'm also getting back into menu planning. I did really well with this for a few years, but I slacked off in the past year or so. When I've got meals planned out, we are less likely to eat out or grab something fattening and unhealthy. So, I'm back to planning healthy meals...it's necessary!
- We also have an elliptical, a treadmill, and a Smith Machine (or workout station...not sure of the proper name) in our workout room. We also have plenty of workout tapes for me when I get bored. It also helps that I have a wonderful friend who is willing to come over and do cardio with me. So, I'm really excited about that. But -- she's moving at the end of February (WAAAAHHHHH!), but hopefully I'll keep it going!
- I also really like this program, and I'd love to implement it when I feel I can really do the running part without passing out. We will also implement more outdoor activities as a family (soccer, bow and arrow, biking, etc).
- The Wii fit will also help. But -- we have to get Caleb away from it. LOL! He loves to play it, so Brian and I have to get him to let us have a turn.
So, you see...there really are no.more.excuses. We will get in shape, and we will set a better example for our children. I'm going to try to post our weekly weightloss. So, please check back and see how we're doing. Also, show us some support by leaving an encouraging comment. It will truly help to know that we've got the accountability!
So, without further ado...let the Childress Family 2009 Weight Loss Challenge BEGIN!

Good luck on the weight loss. The Barbour crew needs to get on the healthier eating bus!
I've got a tip for you for curled up toes. When you put on the shoes hit the bottom of the shoe. I don't know why, but it will make them straighten out their toes.
Check my 100 things list again. Somebody ??? accidently posted it before I was finished! I need my own personal computer! Don't you agree!
You go, best of luck! I'm right there with you, now to get motivated!
Hi from SITTS :).
"I love you" that is SUPER sweet. That might be one you would have to make a frame around it and call it art :). Thanks for stopping by!
Great word. Good in luck in 09! Weight loss is my eternal goal. We're doing '8 Minutes in the Morning' and I love it!
Sounds like a good plan and a good start! I love Wii Fit....it is a fun tool to have!
