Well, we are back from the mountains, and it's time to get back into a normal routine (well, what we call normal I guess...LOL!). I can hardly believe it...we are finally catching up with our homeschool lessons. It's been a long process, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Not counting this current week, we are only one week behind...WOOHOO! I'm so excited.
Here's how this past week went (well, weeks considering we finished up today what we started before Christmas).
Beginnings: Our theme for the week was Rivers and Lakes. We talked about rivers, lakes, water insects, and the water cycle. We actually did an experiment to demonstrate the water cycle by boiling water. It was a lot of fun. Caleb added "sl", "fl", "tr", and "pl" to his blends. He added "where" to his list of service words. The reading book for the week was Trucks, and he did an awesome job reading.
Math: We reviewed the numbers 60-99. We also reviewed time, fractions, and place value (tens and ones). Caleb really seems to enjoy math, and he does a great job.
Bible: We continued our review of First Catechism questions 1-28. We also continued our review of all the Bible verses he has learned this far. The review is really helping it all "sink" in to his little brain.
Extra Stuff: Of course we celebrated Christmas. Caleb was able to spend some time with his friends Hunter and Tina. They made Christmas cookies and some handprint ornaments (too cute...loved the idea Laura). And -- we had our mountain getaway. We were able to get in some homeschool time by visiting Chestatee Wildlife Preserve. We also got some homeschool time in by playing some games and fishing.
As always, thanks for following our homeschool adventures. We'd love to know you're reading...so give us a shout!
Happy 2009 to all of you!
