Did St. Nikolaus drop by your house on the eve of December 6th? He came to our house. The boys made sure to put some boots (they chose Daddy’s big snow boots) by the door in hopes that St. Nikolaus would leave them an indication of what to expect on Christmas.
Much to my surprise, they were each left goodies as opposed to nothing. So, I guess that Jolly Ol’ Saint Nicholas will be visiting on Christmas Eve, too. 
St. Nikolaus is a German tradition, and we enjoy implementing it each year for the delight of the boys. I hope it’s a tradition that they will carry on with their children.
