Lent...What are YOU Giving Up???

So, it's that time of year again when many people I know "give up" something for Lent. I've never really done much with this or thought much about it. One, we aren't Catholic, and two...it was never instilled in me by my family or my husband. But -- Brian and I have decided to join in this year.

So, we're giving up alcohol (with the exception of Couples Bunco this Sat, the 28th), and I'm giving up chocolate. No, we aren't alcoholics or chocoholics, but we do enjoy having a beer (Smirnoff for me please), and I love me some chocolate! I usually want NEED it around that lovely time of the month. But -- we shall give it up for the next 40 days. It shouldn't be that big of a deal since we're on a health and exercise kick now. We're beach bound for the 4th of July, so it's time to kick it up a notch in that area anyway!

So, share...what did you give up for Lent?

I gave up chocolate a few years ago for Lent and I think that was the hardest I ever did...I have low blood sugar so when I start feeling weak chocolate is an instant fix

I'm a Cokeaholic...not the drug, the drink...so I'm giving up soft drink this year

GOOD LUCK!

I'm giving up FAST FOOD. I'm not sure how I'll do, because I love me some McDonald's when I'm out and about and in a hurry.

Why is it when you give up some things it makes you want to start others? Or maybe that's just me.

I'm not doing this, but it I had to, it would be diet coke....Sonic's Route 44 diet coke.

Cursing. And already I've had to ask for forgiveness today. But I hopped back on track and am behaving again. Good luck with the alcohol thing--I'm still drying out from my weekend in Florida.

I am Catholic but am not giving anything up this year. Once again I am pregnant during let. Which is great because then I am not required to give up a food item or fast during lent. I guess I can say that I am giving up alcohol. But I will try harder to be a better person and do as much as I can to start feeling better about myself. (I've been suffering from depression and anxiety all my life.) Lent is a good time to start working on that.
