Week 12 of Learning 2014-15

We actually finished up week 12 a few days ago, but I haven’t taken the time to post the review.  Here’s how it went…
Micah, First Grade Bible – Micah’s Bible lesson was on “My Bible Teaches Me Kindness,” and we read 2 Samuel 9:1-13 to accompany the lesson.
LLATL – Micah read another book for his program.  I’m telling you…it warms my heart to hear my children reading when they’re first starting.  It’s such a joy to sit back and think…”I did that…I taught him how to read.”  He’s really catching on and doing a GREAT job.  He also worked on the letters ‘u, q, z’ and the sight word ‘does.’   He worked on periods, capital letters, and adjectives as well.

Math – This week Micah worked on the term difference; writing missing numbers in addition and subtraction sentences; characteristics of a rectangle; greatest and least; and adding three one-digit numbers.
History – Micah started learning about God’s Great Promise.
Science – This week Micah learned about monkeys & apes, aquatic mammals, and marsupials.
Caleb, Sixth Grade Bible – This week Caleb’s Bible lesson was on “Call of Moses,” and we read Exodus 1-4 to accompany the lesson.
Math – This week Caleb worked on place value; writing and saying numbers; and really big numbers.
Reading – This week Caleb began reading The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare.  He read Chapters 1-6.
Geography – This week Caleb learned facts about the states of Louisiana and Indiana.

Writing – Caleb finished up his last lesson by completing an Animated Adjective Poem.  He then began working on the next lesson which continues to cover Adjectives.

Science – Caleb read the same information as Micah, but he also read about Man & Monkeys which discussed a bit on evolution, and why we don’t hold true to that belief.
