We finished up week 22, and here’s how the week went…
Micah, Kindergarten Bible – Micah continues to work in his AWANAS Sparks book…he’s working on memorizing the books of the New Testament.
Phonics – This week Micah worked on the long ‘I, o, and u’ sounds. He worked on the “-ide, –ike, –ine, –ire, –one, –ose, –une” phonograms. His sight words were up, look, is, go, we.
Poetry – We picked up the printer out of storage, so we are back to doing poetry. This week our poem was “I’m a Little Penguin.” We used the poem to discuss periods, commas, and word with the long I sound.
Math – This week Micah did more work with place value.
Caleb, Fifth Grade Bible – Caleb continues to work in his AWANAS T&T Ultimate Challenge book (which is still proving quite difficult).
Math – This week Caleb worked on regrouping; division; more fact families; and divisor, divident, quotient.
English – We opted to skip English since we were starting a new history program that would require a good bit of writing (hence I can incorporate English/grammar skills).
History – We began using A Living History of Our World, America’s Story Volume 1 this week, and Caleb really seemed to enjoy it. We discussed “who lived here first.” Caleb had to complete two notebooking pages using what he learned as well.
We will be beginning Week 23 this afternoon, much to the dismay of the boys. But – since we’re a good bit behind and Brian is out of town, we HAVE to use this time to try to get in as many double/triple days as we can. I’m hoping we can knock out 2 weeks this week…we will see.
