Second Grade Week 20 in Review

We are done with another week of second grade here at Childress Academy.  Here’s how the week went for us:
Bible – Our Bible story was on “The Bible is God’s Word.”  Our memory work was First Catechism Q&A 15.  We read Exodus 20 and Romans 10:17.
Health – This week we started a new unit, and we began by discussing manners.  I’m really hoping pays close attention to this unit!
Science – This week we continued to discuss insects by focusing on bees.  We learned all about the worker bees and queen bee.
English – We started another writing chapter, and this time we’re working on writing a book report.
Social Studies – In Geography, we added 5 more states to our state study…Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Nebraska.  In Social Studies, we began discussing America’s Indians.  We talked about the indians of the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest.  We learned about their homes and their lifestyle.  We also discussed Squanto.
Reading – This week we read the following books:
Amber Brown is Not a Crayon by Paula Danziger
”Curious Benjamin” by Evan-Moor Publishing
Charlie the Caterpillar by Dom DeLuise
Math – This week we worked on subtraction of doubles.  I think that it’s all starting to sink in, and I pray that Caleb will remember all of his strategies.
We’re still busy with Co-Op, but we only have two more weeks left for the fall session.  Both boys are still loving every minute of it.  They have great classes, great friends, and great teachers.  This new Co-Op has been a huge blessing, and it’s been a wonderful experience.  We’re looking forward to gearing up for the Spring session soon!
Thanks for following our journey!  I’ll be posting about our Mountain Getaway soon!

How far in advance do you usually need to plan? I'm in awe of you!

Hey you! Yes, you...the one staring at the computer screen. I know you have something to say, so go ahead...just write what's on your mind. :) We all know that writing is good for the soul, and what better way than to leave a comment?!!? I promise to do my best to return the favor. :)
