Field Day 2010

Now, for all of you out there who may think that homeschoolers aren’t social children…let’s just put that thought to rest. We are part of a local homeschool group here in town, CGCHE for all of you locals. They have all kinds of activities for us never-want-to-socialize homeschooling folks. Of course, I’m joking about the “never want to socialize” part because we LOVE socializing! Heck, us homeschool moms enjoy it more than the kids I think!
Anyway, onto the reason for this post…CGCHE hosted Field Day this past Friday. This was the first year that we participated, and I’m already looking forward to next year. It was so much fun, and it was very well-organized. Caleb had tons of fun with his group of boys (boys and girls are split up according to age, but they stay together with their age group). My friend, Naomi, and I led the group of 6-7 year old girls (orange girls). We had so much fun with them. Granted, they kept us on our toes, but it was still lots of fun!
The morning started off with everyone finding their team and leaders. Then, we headed off to do our first session events. After that, we had a short fruit/water break, and then headed back out for session two activities. Once we were done with all of the events, we all enjoyed a picnic lunch. Here are some pictures from the day!

Here’s Caleb waiting for everything to start. I think he was yelling at someone.IMG_5494 Football tossIMG_5496 3-legged race…Caleb’s partner, Caleb, Ashton, and Colton. But – I think they won first place.IMG_5502 And they’re off…IMG_5503Caleb lining up for one of the 25/50 yard dash.IMG_5504 A good ol’ game of tug-of-war…the orange girls vs. the orange boys. Unfortunately, the boys won. LOL!IMG_5506 Caleb cheering on his partner for the basketball relay.IMG_5511 Basketball relay…I learned that Caleb hasn’t the foggiest idea when it comes to basketball skills. This is definitely something we need to work on. It’s just not been a “forefront” sport for him.IMG_5513 Wheelbarrow raceIMG_5514
Caleb ended up earning 3 “FIRST PLACE” ribbons and 2 “THIRD PLACE” ribbons. Brian later asked him which events he won, and he couldn’t remember. I don’t remember either because it was hard for me to take pictures of him while leading the orange girls. But – we’re still proud of our little athlete!

What a great day. Looks like tons of fun. We keep quite busy with our homeschool group. Right now it's baseball.
