Menu Plan Monday -- Week of April 6th, 2009

Can I just ask...what is up with Mother Nature? I know...not much to do with menu planning, but I thought I'd throw that out there to see if anyone knows. LOL! It's supposed to get down below freezing here two nights this week. YUCK!!!!! And -- my garden...ummmm...mother nature, you are not helping me here.

Okay, so it's time for some more menus. Head on over to OrgJunkie to take a gander at all the menus. There are so many participants each week, and I love finding new meals to try.

As for us, well, I stocked up on meat the past two weeks because the deals were soooo good. Winn-Dixie had B1G1 on meats, so that was a great deal. So, we'll be having lots of "new" meats for us. Here's what's cooking this week...

Monday -- Onion & Mushroom Beef Pot Roast, Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole
Tuesday -- Crunchy Parmesan Chicken Tenders, Carrots with Orange Ginger Glaze
Wednesday -- YOYO
Thursday -- Steak Tips, Corn on the Cob, Baked Garlic Green Beans
Friday -- Slow Cooked Pork Chops, Brown Rice, Garden Vegetable Medley
Saturday -- YOYO
Sunday -- Easter Dinner @ my mom's (I'll take a sweet potato souffle and green bean casserole)

So, what's on your menu this week? Are you trying any new recipes?

What in the world is Yoyo?

I have no idea what is up with MOther Nature, I think someone pee'd in her cherrios though!

YOYO is "You're On Your Own" which basically equates to leftovers. It's my way of saying I'm taking a break and not cooking. LOL! I figure cooking 5 nights out of 7 is fine with me. LOL! :)

Sherrie - please no disrespect, but really, how often do you deviate from your "plan"? Do you always follow it? And what about the link this week for the recipes? I'm curious about the parmesan chicken tenders?! Thanks!

Laura -- no disrespect taken...that's a valid question. Honestly, I don't deviate very often at all. The only reason that I end up not cooking or postponing a meal is because my hubby is working late. He runs his own business, so he's the only one that can fix issues. So, if he's out taking care of problems and won't be home in time for dinner, then I may cancel the plan and have him bring home something instead. But -- that doesn't happen often. There are also days where I'm running around town and don't get home in time to fix dinner at a decent hour...in this case, I may cook something faster or just get take-out. Again, this doesn't happen much. I try to stay with my plan as much as I can.

Also, here's the link for the chicken tenders...I will probably leave out the buttermilk step this time just b/c I don't have any (I don't use it, so I don't keep it around).

I was just about to ask for a link to the chicken tenders and there it is! All of your menu items sound great! And the idea of YOYO is a good one :)

I'm trying a few new recipes this week - can't remember their exact names, but a couple of them involve chicken. ;-) Enjoy your meals!

What?! No lamb cake on Easter?!!!!

Sherrie--I'm so proud of you not using the "L" word during the week anymore!!

I wrote out a WHOLE months worth of meal plan...due to your inspiration!!! I have followed it for a week so far!! I allowed 1 YOYO and 1 either eat out or leftover night. Every Friday is Pizza night, and Mondays are Mexican!! Tonight we had fajitas!!

Thank you so much for giving me the courage to try this!!

Nancy -- Let me know what you think if you try them. They were yummy this evening. :)

Mighty M -- good luck with the new meals. You'll have to share the recipes if they are good.

Lin -- ummm...no, not doing a lamb cake. LOL! I don't bake a whole lot. And -- I knew you'd be proud I quit using the "L" word (and no, I'm not referring to the TV show...lol).

Moody Mommy -- WOW! Thank you so much for that awesome compliment. That truly means a lot. Keep up the planning. I find it such a lifesaver when I know what I'm cooking and when. I think I'll implement your "specific meal plan" days. IE...Monday -- ground beef, Tuesday -- chicken, etc. Great idea! Have you checked out orgjunkie.com?

Recreationl Art -- yeah...mother nature is acting very YOYO-ish these days. It's crazy!
