Update #1 On Our Garden

I went to check on the garden this morning (this has become my habit really). We've had rain the past two days, so I didn't venture out on Sunday or Monday. So, much to my surprise...guess what I saw?!!?
BirdsSPROUTS! Our garden has started to blossom. We've got sunflowers, corn (which I heard is awesome considering our bird issues), broccoli, and squash sprouting. Some of the wildflowers that Caleb and I planted (in pots) are starting to bloom, too.

We are sooo excited. You see...I think I mentioned before that I am NOT a gardener, and I do not have a green thumb. I've killed plants that aren't easy to kill, so you get my drift.

And considering those
peskyprecious birds have been nibbling on a daily basis, I'm truly shocked to see everything blooming. Our onions and peppers appear to be thriving as well. The strawberries are getting bigger and growing lots and lots of flowers, too. And the tomatoes have little yellow flowers now, so I'm thinking they're fine as well.

So, take a look-see...isn't it just WONDERFUL?!!? And -- if you're local, well I may have to pawn some of this
crapproduce on you. :)

This is the first sprout we had. It popped up last week, but I have no clue what it is. It's in between the lettuce and the broccoli. We shall watch it and see what it becomes. LOL!

Squash on 3-17-09

Corn on 3-17-09

Broccoli on 3-17-09And-- Brian moved Mr. Owl. He put him on a short PVC pipe right in the middle of the garden. So, we'll see how the birds do now. ;)

I was happy to discover your blog today. I was unable to find an email link in your profile. I hope it's OK that I'm contacting you through a public comment. I've developed an educational program for Windows called SpellQuizzer that helps children learn their spelling words without the battle that parents often have getting them to sit down and write them out while the parents dictate to them. The parent enters the child's spelling words into the software making a sound recording of each word. Then the software helps the child practice his or her words. It really helped my children with their weekly spelling lists.

I would appreciate your reviewing SpellQuizzer in Boogers, Screams, Headaches, and Dreams. You can learn more about the program at http://www.SpellQuizzer.com. There's a video demo you can watch at http://www.spellquizzer.com/SpellQuizzer-Demo.htm. I'd be happy to send you a complimentary license for the software. Please let me know if you are interested.

Thank you very much!

Hey Sherrie!
I came to your blog yesterday, and I went to leave a comment and my computer froze. Weird! So I came back right away this morning!
I love your little sprouts.
I grow a huge garden every year!
If you have any questions, ask away.
I'm glad, Semi-Slacker Mom is having the spring swap, for I love your blog!
BTW, kudos for you on home schooling, I would love to but don't have the confidence to.

I am sooo not a gardener...I have the blackest thumb of anyone I have ever met...LOL!

I wish anything was blooming here, but NO...we are still at -20 in the mornings...

Wow how exciting. I was thinking of working on a garden this year too. I don't have a green thumb and have killed many plants too. Maybe I'll start small with just a tomato plant. It's still cold here so I have some time to think about it.
