Homeschool Week 30 In Review

Another week down...another week closer to being all caught up. I hope to be all caught up by the time our "Winter Break" rolls around on the 16th. We'll see how it goes. Here's how this week panned out:

Beginnings -- We took a break from our reading book this week. So, we focused on a grammer review. We reviewed all of the word families and service words Caleb has learned so far this year. We also took some time to review ending punctuation (period, question mark, and exclamation point). Syllables were also reviewed. Caleb continues to make great strides in his reading, and we are sooo proud of him.

Math -- We had a new chapter this week. It was about Geometry (shapes to be simpler). We learned about spheres, cylinders, cubes, rectangular solids, and cones. Caleb really caught on well with this.

Bible -- We added question 32 to the First Catechism study. Our Bible verse for the week was 1 John 3:16b. Caleb worked really hard to memorize questions 29-32 of the First Catechism, and he was successful.

Extra Stuff -- We have been busy making plans for our garden. Caleb has decided that he wants to plant a garden when Omi and Opa come down to celebrate Micah's first birthday. So, we're going to oblige him. He thinks he'll just plant fruit, but mommy has other ideas. LOL! We will plant veggies, fruit, and some sunflowers (just because I LOVE them). This will be our first garden, and I'm sure it's going to produce (no pun intended) several blog postings. So, stay tuned...LOL! And -- Omi and Opa...get your gardening gloves ready because mommy is clueless! :)

Thanks for following our adventure and be sure to check in next week to see what we study!

I wanted to share this youtube video with you. A friend of mine who homeschools her 4 youngsters sent this to me. This was performed at their first meeting as a kick off to the new school year. I think you'll enjoy it, I did! ;D
