Fun in the Sun

Today we headed over to Laura's to spend some time in her neighbor's pool. We've been doing this for some time now, but I finally remembered to bring the camera to catch the fun. Caleb is such a fish in the water. His swim lessons have really paid off, and he's doing superb. Micah even got to join in on the fun today. He didn't like it at first, but as long as I held him close, he did fine. He looked too cute in his little swimsuit. But -- he did manage to get a bit of a sunburn on his right arm (that was the one facing the sun as he snoozed on the float). I smothered him and Caleb with sunscreen, and they both managed to catch too much sun. So, we're steering clear of the rays for a few days. Here are some pictures of the fun, and there are a couple of videos of Caleb, Hunter, and Tina having a blast. Enjoy!

Corn Huskers

Today we went over to Laura's house to have a Memorial Day BBQ. Before we got started, Laura decided to let the kiddos have fun husking the ears of corn. They had so much fun, but Hunter got a bit frustrated when it took to long to get to the actual corn. But -- they were all successful in the end. We enjoyed a yummy lunch of steak and chicken kabobs along with grilled veggies, corn on the cob, steamed broccoli, and a funfetti cake to top it all off. It was all very yummy thanks to Brian's grilling expertise. The kids had lots of fun just playing with the water hose and the slip 'n slide. Here are a few pictures of them husking the corn.

Our little fish...

Caleb's been taking swim lessons, and boy he has really become a fish in the water. He has no fear, and this is a double-edged sword if you're a parent. You want them to be comfortable in the water, but you can never be too safe, either. Anyway, I digress. We went over to swim at a friend's pool today, and Caleb had a blast. He was swimming from one side of the shallow end to the other. He would also jump off the diving board and swim to the ladder (without any type of floatation device). Granted, he wasn't really diving or jumping straight in...he was doing a belly flop almost each time. We tried showing him how to jump straight in (even mommy tried by jumping in herself), but it didn't work. He still continued to do belly flops. His little belly was so red. Hopefully he'll soon figure it out. I have a feeling we'll be going over to the pool several times each week, weather permitting. I'll have to get some pictures at some point. Keep on the lookout...

Slip 'n Slide Fun

After spending some time on Hunter and Tina's slip 'n slide, I asked Caleb if he would like one. So, I asked Grandma to get him one for his preschool graduation, and she obliged. We hooked it up this evening, and he had lots of fun. Mommy did her best to hook it up correctly, but she put it going uphill which wasn't a good idea. So, once daddy came out and realized how "silly" mommy was, we got it going downhill. Now, the party was on. So, here are a few shots of our son in action. Micah is still getting used to "cold" water, so it'll be a while before you see shots of him. But -- Little Man enjoyed the nice, refreshing water. :)

Caleb's Preschool Graduation

Our oldest son is no longer a baby. He graduated from preschool this evening. It's always a big deal for them, and they get to top it all off by wearing a cap and gown. They all looked super cute, and they did a terrific job singing their songs and getting their diplomas. I managed to capture some of it with the video setting on the camera, but I wasn't able to video all of it. I forgot to charge the batteries for the big videocamera. Oh well, you'll still get to see some cute video. I'll go ahead and apologize now for the quality. Just forgive me...my subject was a bit squirmy.

The preschool also wrote up a little profile on each child to put inside the program. They were so cute to read. Here's how Caleb's read:
This year has been a special year for Caleb; he became a big brother! The thing he loves most about his family is his new brother, Micah. Caleb's favorite color is red. His favorite Zoophonics animal is Zeke Zebra because he sleeps. What he likes most about school is that he gets to learn and play. The field trip he liked the best was to the pumpkin patch. When he grows up he wants to be a pirate and have 24 children. The one thing he wants to do most in the world is watch movies. If he could travel anywhere it would be to the beach. So...this is how our son's little brain works. :)

He looks so happy, doesn't he? LOL!

The power of cheez-its...

You might be wondering what I mean by the title of this post... So, let me just share. We've been spending some time outside playing with our friends Laura, Hunter, and Tina. Well, Caleb gets so worn out that he comes home, opens up the cheez-its, and then tuckers out. I've found him in this position with the same box of cheez-its for two days now. So, I figured it was time to catch it with a picture. Enjoy!

It wasn't a fluke...

Well, it wasn't a fluke. Micah is officially rolling over from his belly to his back. We started laying him in his crib for naps today. Well, after hearing him fuss earlier this evening, Brian walked in to find him in the process of "trying" to roll over from his belly. Well, we continued to watch him, and he succeeded. So, he's now a rolling machine. He kept on doing it once he figured out he knew what he was doing. I'm going to try to get a video of it soon, so keep on the lookout.

Micah's two month check-up

Today was Micah's two month check-up with the pediatrician. He weighed in at 13lbs, 6oz and was 22.5 inches long. So, he's a pretty big boy. The doctor said that he's doing well, and he's on track with everything. In fact, he's probably ahead of schedule on some things.

The doctor had him on his belly to check how well he was controlling his head, and he was surprised at how he was doing. He was holding it up at a 90-degree angle which is supposedly not typical until 4 months of age. Well, I guess Micah got tired of laying on his tummy, and he rolled over onto his back. This shocked all of us. It was his first time to roll over, so we'll see if it was a fluke or not.

After the doctor was done checking him out, he had to get two shots. He screamed for a little bit, but he soon calmed down. He's been pretty content today considering the shots, so I'm hoping they don't affect him.

Here's a picture I snapped a few days ago. It's amazing to see how much he's changed in just two short months. His hair is growing in thicker on the top of his head, and he's just such a cutie!

Virus free

Thanks to our friend, Brian, we are now virus free on our PC. I've learned that I need to do a better job of backing up our files on CD, too. So, I made sure I did that today.

So, now that everything is back up and running, I will catch up on my blog posting within the next few days. I've got lots to post! Stay tuned...

Rub-a-dub-dub

Micah has really grown to liking his bathtime. He usually spends his time in the bath just smiling and cooing. Let's hope his love for the water continues to grow. He's also found a big interest in his fist (more like his thumb). We're really hoping we don't have a thumb-sucker on our hands. We're still pushing the paci, so we'll see.

A date with mommy and daddy

Brian and I decided that it was time for us to spend some quality time with Caleb today. So, we arranged for my mom to come over and watch Micah so that we could go and do some fun stuff.

We started the morning off by going bowling. Caleb loves to bowl, and he's pretty darn good at it. He's really enjoyed being on the pee-wee bowling league this year, and we can't wait for the season to start back in September.

After bowling, we headed to Firehouse Subs for lunch. Then, we headed to the movie theatre to meet our friend Laura and her two children, Hunter and Tina. We all watched "Horton Hears a Who." It was a fairly good movie, but I probably would have enjoyed it more had there not been so many crying babies and toddlers. I could have brought Micah, and he would have fit right in. But -- that's not why I go to the movies. :) I don't think it bothered the kiddos though...they all three had fun drinking (and spilling) soda and eating popcorn.

It was a great day, and it was fun to bond with Caleb without him fighting for attention. We'll have to make this a regular habit.

A bit comical at this point...

Well, here we are...just over a week later, and guess what?!!? Okay, don't guess. By now you probably don't have to! Our water is out yet AGAIN! This is just getting crazy and comical at the same time. How many "quick fixes" will it take for this sorry city to realize that the issue needs to be permanently fixed.

Anyway, I called the water dept and the mayor's office. I also called the news station again. We'll see what happens this time.

And did I mention that they STILL haven't fixed our yard? It looks pretty bad, and we're waiting on them to lay some sod. Again, we wait...

Just thought you all would get a kick out of our water grief...

Playing guitar

It's really no surprise that Caleb has a love for music. Brian and I are both musically inclined. I play the piano and xylophone. I've also dabbled with other percussion instruments. Brian plays the guitar and a few other instruments as well.

Today I noticed Caleb had picked up Brian's guitar and was strumming along. He was so intent singing all of his little preschool songs. And -- he was doing a really good job of keeping a tune while strumming the guitar. It was too cute not to capture with the camera. I only wish I had grabbed the video camera instead. So, music lessons may soon be in his future. He keeps changing his mind as to which instrument he'd like to learn though...it varies from trumpet, guitar, and piano. We'll keep you posted...

Mother's Day Tea

Caleb's preschool had a Mother's Day Tea today to celebrate Mother's Day. This is an annual event, and it's always a lovely festivity. Each class got up and performed a song and a poem. They were all so cute singing and reciting. Caleb used to be super shy with this, but now he's one of the loudest. We then enjoyed pimento cheese and PB&J sandwiches made by the four-year-old class. The three-year-old classes made chocolate chip and sugar cookies. After eating munchies and sipping on our hot tea, the children presented us with gifts. Caleb made a caterpillar using his thumbprints and it was framed. It was super cute, and it's a great way to remember his Pre-K year at Cheerful Cherubs. It's hard to believe the school year is coming to an end.

Attack of the Virus

No, I'm not talking medical viruses...I'm talking electronic viruses! I DESPISE computer geeks who have nothing better to do than think of ways to hack into other people's PCs and infest them with GARBAGE!!!!!

Somehow our main PC became infested with an awful virus on Sunday morning. We tried to fix the problem ourselves, but we couldn't. So, I took the PC to a friend of ours, and he finally got it back up and working late Tuesday night. Well, I brought it home yesterday, and Brian hooked it back up.

And -- BAM! Attacked AGAIN!!!! You've got to be kidding me. So, I call our friend, and he walks us thru a process. Our computer is STILL scanning. It's been scanning since sometime last night! I'm going crazy over here! Luckily we do have the laptop, but the majority of our stuff is on the main PC. Needless to say, we will soon remedy that problem by networking our PCs together.

Anyway, I've got more blogs and photos to post, but I'm waiting until we get the main PC back up and running. Sorry...just needed to vent my frustration...LOL!

Our little pirate

As most of you know, Caleb has been obsessed with all things pirate for some time now. He's watched Pirates of the Caribbean many times, and he loves to imitate the infamous "Captain Jack Sparrow." He's got lots of pirate garb, and there's rarely a day goes by that he doesn't do something in the way of pirates. So, check out our pirate...isn't he just the cutest? And -- he once told me he wanted to be a pirate when he grows up. That's fine by me as long as he promises to share the loot with his parents. LOL!

A Day in Atlanta (East Point really)

We headed up to East Point around noon today to celebrate Uncle Patrick and Aunt Darcy's nuptials. They decided to elope in February, so today was a day to celebrate with them and all their family/friends. This was Micah's first big road trip (longer than 30 minutes), and he did really well. He slept the whole way up there...waking just in time to get fed by Opa.

Caleb started off the day checking out all the new toys...outdoor bowling, horseshoes, badminton, etc. Then he helped Omi clean the chairs so they would be nice and clean for everyone.
We all took some time to pose for the camera. I figured it would be nice to do so since we rarely get pictures of anyone other than the kiddos at this point in life. :)
Patrick and Darcy had the event catered, and the food and drinks were fabulous. Patrick and several of his friends brew beer, so they had plenty of beer on tap for today's festivities. There was even a special "ale" in honor of the recent nuptials.

The lovely couple celebrated the big day by slicing into one of the many delicious cupcakes. They were yummy...so much for the diet.

Caleb decided it was time for him to learn how to climb a tree, and he had a blast. He thought he was "the king of the jungle" and tried to climb most of the trees within his height range. He was super cute.

After a day of celebrating, we headed back to Warner Robins. Both kids crashed on the way home, and it was pure bliss.

Congratulations Patrick & Darcy! We love you guys!
